Siren review by Gary Hill

Posted by zakala on Nov 22, 2010 in Band news, Review

“Siren” has been reviewed by Gary Hill, music journalist and creator of Music Street Journal who said,

Siren, by the Love Commandos, presents a band with a unique sound and a lot of maturity. The music and musicianship are professional, and Love Commandos know how to write great songs and play them well.

Three days until LC’s gig

Posted by zakala on May 28, 2010 in Band news

There are only three days to go before the Love Commandos play subside on Monday evening (31st May). The band have a final rehearsal later today to put a final polish on our set. We hope that you show up to show your support of the band and enjoy an evening of loud rock music – hey, it’s a bank holiday Monday, what else would you be doing that’s as much fun?

Take a risk. Go Commandos!

Press the button

Well that’s it, the band have approved the art proofs, paid the balance and committed the production run; Siren is go!
It’s been a bit of a journey and has taken longer than we would have liked, but the finished album should be with us in a few weeks.
To celebrate the Love Commandos spent Friday evening practising some more covers and some old gems and generally making a lot of noise. We’ve also decided that Dave Grohl does an awful lot of shouting in The Pretender. As this also reminds me of Douglas Adams’ Vogon guard that’s probably a good thing.

What’s our name again?

Posted by admin on Sep 5, 2009 in Band news

Ken was early and spent the time creating some patches on his Pod X3. Richard was late, but already has his patches sorted since he uses stomp boxes.

There was discussion about whether the band name included the definite article (the) or not. The general opinion was that the band is called “Love Commandos” partly because it was taken from the lyric “the psychotronic love commandos”, but mainly because Neil dislikes band names with “The” in their name.

Musically both “Just a Day” and “Burn Baby, Burn” are coming along nicely and should be ready once we have the album ready for release.

There was also discussion about both engaging an agent to manage the gig side of things – since we are clearly useless at organising gigs – and arranging a publishing deal to promote our original songs.

Bill

You may just possibly be the only group in Britain to play a cover of the Stone Temple Pilots. Most other bands would go ‘huh? eh? what? they a bit like Pearl Jam?’ Nice gig at Harborne carnival, by the way – even if you did become more sweaty than even Matt from Cage (and that’s saying something…..)

Actually, I thought we were the only band to do Stone Temple Pilots covers until I saw an advert recently in Ritch Bitch Studios for a band that claimed to include their songs in the set. Shame.
